It’s hard work in this head of mine: constant chatter, over-thinking and sensitivity
to excessive stimuli. Resisting the instinctual urge of disconnection can be a tireless
daily challenge. Practice is a means to resolve this overstimulation, a way to be present.
Stillness arrives in the silence.
Embracing materiality, the practice nurtures surface, texture and the physicality of
paint while exploring themes of memory and nostalgia embedded in landscape.
Experiences are communicated through material. Painted form expresses a sense
of place: not the detail of the terrain, but memories of feelings. Nostalgia. Stillness.
